I sent out the minutes of the last excom meeting of the Upper Columbia River Group, headquartered in Spokane, by email. Our major concern is the health of the Spokane River, one of the most polluted rivers in the country. I read emails on the river and other subjects affecting our group. Read over the background material for the coming CCL meeting to be prepared for the meeting which will be held just prior to the Summit in San Francisco.

I thought about agenda items for the Group and Chapter Outings Committe (GCOC) meeting, also to be held in San Francisco before the Sierra Summit. Made several phone calls to Outings Chairs in the Northwest to find out how they are coming along in meeting the new leader-training standards. Among other items discussed was how they were integrating conservation into their outings. I tried to let them know that the GCOC and I were there to help them and what was available to help. Training for leaders is difficult in the Northwest because of the long distances involved in getting people together.
