I didn't do anything environmentally spectacular today, but what I did do makes a difference: I got up early so I could hang my laundry outside to dry before it rains, thus saving energy and reducing pollution. I weeded my garden (where I don't use pesticides), and gardening promotes organics and local production. I spent time on the computer doing my column for the September group newsletter for the Sierra Club. I made arrangements for a work party to re-mark the trail at a local granite outcrop preserve that belongs to The Nature Conservancy. I reminded our Adopt-A-Stream group that our monthly chemical monitoring is next Sunday.

So, like so many other Sierrans, I didn't make headlines, but I hope and believe that the way you live does make our planet a better place for everyone and everything.
