I crewed on one of the support boats that supplied food and sleeping quarters for Steve Vic as he swam from Skagway to Juneau, Alaska (92 miles) to protest a proposed road.
The road would blast through some of the most beautiful temperate rainforest in the world. It would follow the east side of Lynn Canal through Berners Bay and end at the beautiful Katzehin River where a ferry terminal would be built. Travelers would then need to take a ferry from there to get to Haines and Skagway in the northern Lynn Canal.
We would rather see the money spent on improved ferries that already operate in Southeast Alaska. Read more here.
