Weekends are not always filled with adventure. Often they are about completing the routine tasks that make a household function for the coming week. Grocery shopping, cleaning, and yard work. It sounds so dull, but it is necessary and can feel fulfilling when you get those chores done.
Being an environmentally aware family can mean buying recycled paper products at the store, limiting chemical cleaning products and using more natural ones. Buying locally-grown fresh produce is a real pleasure when you chat with the grower or distributor about the quality of the fruit and vegetables. Today, August 6, Paul is mowing the lawn. He's using a non-motorized push mower. Earlier he sharpened the blades and now it moves quickly over the small lawn. The lawn is really a patchwork of different weedy grasses but they look nice when sheared short. It's pretty hot but he's almost done--only took about 10 minutes.
