Scent of Wildness

Who:

Michele Perrault
International vice president, external affairs

Where:

San Francisco, CA

Due to a prior calendar arrangement, I am hiking in the Sierra today instead of attending the Sierra Club California executive meeting (though I worked all week to send the materials for a fundraising agenda item). Instead today I join with others who also make a yearly trip to the Sierra to catch its special light, its pristine scenery of lakes, mountains, and rock formations, and a scent of wildness like no other place. My continual years of volunteer work continue to be enhanced by such trips; I was stimulated initially at a young age growing up in New York City by access to the wild parks of the Bronx and through a public school summer garden program .
